Kimura’s disease of the parapharyngeal space: A clinical Case Study
Kimura's disease (KD) is a rare idiopathic condition of unknown etiology. The disease is characterized by swelling and lesions in the head and neck region, with involvement of the subcutaneous soft tissue, major salivary glands and lymph nodes. Patients almost always have eosinophilia and elevated serum immunoglobulin E levels. The diagnosis is established by biopsy. KD is usually self limiting...
متن کاملMesenchymal chondrosarcoma of the pleura.
A 52 year old man developed an extraskeletal mesenchymal chondrosarcoma (ESMC) arising from the pleura. Clinically, the tumour mimicked a mesothelioma. Fine needle biopsy was consistent with the diagnosis of sarcomatoid mesothelioma. Histological examination of multiple tumour samples, supported by immunohistochemical characterization, made it possible to correctly diagnose extraskeletal mesenc...
متن کاملMesenchymal chondrosarcoma of the cerebellum.
Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma is a rare malignant neoplasm of bone and soft tissues. An unique case is described of an 8-year-old child with a midline cerebellar lesion. Pertinent clinical and radiologic findings along with histopathologic features are described. To our knowledge, this is the first case of mesenchymal chondrosarcoma arising in the cerebellar parenchyma of a child.
متن کاملMesenchymal chondrosarcoma of the maxilla.
We report, to our knowledge, the 10th recorded case of mesenchymal chondrosarcoma (MC) occurring in the maxilla. Our case is the youngest person reported with a tumour in this location. The prognosis for cure is poor with a high incidence of local recurrence as well as metastases. Treatment is based on radical surgery. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy have a adjuvant role but additional experience...
متن کاملMesenchymal chondrosarcoma of mandible
Mesenchymal chondrosarcomas (MC) are rare and aggressive forms of chondrosarcoma. They are distinct tumors arising in unicentric or multicentric locations from both skeletal and extraskeletal tissues. The most affected region is the facial skeleton, especially the jaws. In this report, we present a case of MC primarily involving the mandible in a 60-year-old female patient.
